For most couples' one year anniversary they celebrate by eating the top tier of their wedding cake that had been in the freezer all year. At our wedding reception the venue accidentally cut our top tier up and served it to the guests, so needless to say we could not participate in this tradition. I called the bakery that made our wedding cake to order a duplicate tier, however they informed me a 2 week notice was not enough time. I called another bakery near our house, but they were going to charge me around $50! So as my last resort I called Taylor, which should have been my first call! She asked if she could make cupcakes in the same flavors and colors as our wedding cake, and of course I loved the idea.
Here are some pictures of the amazing cupcakes she made for us. They were lemon (my favorite) and red velvet (Ryan's favorite) with cream cheese frosting. She even bought black and white paisley boxes and liners to put them in, which matched our black & white and a hint of purple wedding decor. Taylor also took our wedding pictures and printed little flags to stick into the cupcakes with toothpicks.
If you like what you see here and have a special occasion coming up (Wedding/Baby Shower, Halloween Party, Birthday, Anniversary, and more) email me at katelyn.marando@gmail.com and I will get you in touch with Taylor.

Blog Reading 101: Frequently Asked Questions
I have had many people ask me about blogspot, and my blog specifically. First of all if you ever want to visit my blog you can just type in http://blumlingblog.blogspot.com/ I know my blog is titled: Marando Life, however I created it before we were married and it used to be Blumling Blog, which explains the URL. You can also Google search "Marando Life" and it should come up in the results.
To most bloggers this information may seem pretty common sense, but for those non-bloggers who just like to read an entry every now and then, I hope you find below to be helpful...
How do I become a Follower of a blog?
There are several ways to become a follower of a blog. One of the easiest ways is to visit a blog that has added the Following widget (mine is at the top right of the page) and click on the "Follow" button under the "Followers" widget. Or you can click "Join This Site" and follow the directions on the screen by logging in with a different account (if you do not have a Google account).
Can I read a certain blog post, even if it was posted a long time ago?
Also on the right side of the page, towards the bottom, I have a widget called "Blog Archive". It lists every blog entry I have posted, by date. Just above that is a widget where you can search my entire blog for exactly what you are looking for.
Most of the time I will not post each blog update in a link on Facebook. I do have a link in my Facebook profile information section that lists the Marando Life URL http://blumlingblog.blogspot.com/ that you can follow to get to my blog. If you do see a blog post on my Facebook page, clicking on it will only take you to that post. By simply clicking on the title of my blog (Marando Life) at the very top of the page it will refresh and list every blog entry starting with the most recent. If you scroll to the very bottom there will be a link on the right side that says "Older Posts" if you click the link it will load previous blog entries. You can also click on the title of a blog entry and that will allow you to see just that post on the page.
How do I leave a Comment or Question on a blog post?
At the bottom of each blog entry there is a link that says "Comments". You can click this link and then type in whatever you have to say. You can sign your name or post anonymously. Once you have typed what you want to say, just click "Post Comment" to publish your comment.
How do I Share a blog post I see?
If there is a blog post you want to share with someone, you can click the envelope at the bottom of the post. This will allow you to email it to anyone, by simply typing in their email address. You can also click the Facebook or twitter icon to share my blog post on your page.
Hopefully this has helped to answer some questions, and now you can say you are blog savvy. Maybe you will even start your own blog : ) If you have any additional questions just ask them in the "comments" section and I will answer them for you. (You now know how to do this.)

Football Season
Football Season has started, and it is what we have been doing the past few weekends. Between the Colts, IU, and Ryan reffing high school and coaching middle school we have been quite consumed with football. I uploaded some pictures on facebook in a new album Fall = Football, but below are a few I thought I would share with you.
Colts vs Packers game with Tiffany |
Ryan & I at the first home game IU! |
GO HOOSIERS!! |

Colts vs Browns game |
Tailgating |
Lucas Oil Stadium |
This weekend my parents came to Indy and we did a little shopping (I got Ryan's anniversary gift)! We also got some great deals at Nordstrom Rack. Then we met Ryan back at home to watch the Hoosiers, and Mr. & Mrs. Pearl met at our house before dinner. The eight of us headed to 1001 in Broad Ripple for dinner. We had a great time, but I would probably give the food a 7 out of 10. The drinks and appetizers were amazing but most of the entrees I tried were just alright. I don't think any of the guys noticed though, as they would at least rate the atmosphere a 10 out of 10, because of the Bachelorette Party sitting behind us.

Ending Summer the Right Way
Summer is coming to an end, and even though I had to work a lot this summer, I am taking full advantage of what is left of the season. Last Friday night Ryan reffed his first varsity game of the season, another sign summer is almost over, and I joined Tiffany at the Colts game. We had so much fun, and it was great to catch up while cheering on the Colts. After the game we met Ryan and Sara at Applebee's by our house so we could hang out with Ryan May as well.
Ryan is coaching a middle school football team, St. Luke's, and Saturday morning they had their first scrimmage. He actually had another scrimmage tonight, and I think he is loving coaching way more than he thought he would. St. Luke's has their first game a week from Sunday.
So Saturday after Ryan's game we decided to ride to Lafayette with Kyle, Taylor, and Bentley. Bentley didn't love that he had to sit in the trunk and he tried to come sit on my lap a few times.
We went to the Courtney's for a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We had so much fun, and the fundraiser was a successful. Everyone played in a cornhole tournament, and Taylor & Ryan actually one the whole thing. We one a few silent auction items and had great food and drinks. After the fundraiser Ryan and I went with my parents to Nine Irish for a drink and some appetizers before heading home and cuddling up to Kobe for the night. We came back for dinner and volleyball Sunday night, another victory.
Tomorrow night Ryan is reffing a game, but then Saturday morning we are heading up to the lake bright and early! I am so excited to see the Marandos and friends from Cleveland. Tiffany and Ryan are meeting us up there as well. Saturday afternoon we are going to Put-In-Bay to meet up with friends from Cleveland, some that I haven't seen since our wedding and even longer. Sunday will be spent on the boat and by the pool. I hope work goes by quickly tomorrow so another fun, long weekend can start!
