Our Easter Weekend

We had a very relaxing Easter Weekend this year! Because we got to see both of our parents just last weekend, we decided not to travel, and just spend the holiday enjoying each other here in Fishers. Friday night we had a little date and went to Maggiano's for dinner. It was Good Friday, so we shared the tilapia, which was so good! After dinner we came home and watched Due Date, Hilarious!! Then we watched the Lakers win : )
Date Night
Saturday we got up early and went to the gym. Afterwards we met the Cate's at Jason's Deli. It is our favorite for lunch, and we got to hang out with Claire!! That evening we went to Sean & Lindsy's for Luke's 1st Birthday Party. Luke was adorable, and so big since last time we saw him. It was great to see so many of our friends. They had awesome food, and we played drinking games for most of the night....what else would you expect from an Edmo Party?

Easter day we went to Mass at our church, St. Louis de Montfort. We love this church, and the service was great. Once we got home Ryan made us some breakfast, and I started on our Easter meal. It was my first time cooking for a holiday, so I was kind of glad it was just for Ryan and me. I made a ham, of course, and roasted red potatoes, baked beans, homemade mac n' cheese, applesauce, and brussels sprouts with bacon. It actually could not have gone more smoothly, and I surprised myself on how easily I finished everything at the same time. Ryan approved of everything I made, so I was happy! I hope everyone else had a great Easter, and has a good rest of the week : )
Happy Easter!!

SHOWERS

Taylor & Kyle are getting married in less than 7 weeks!! The past few weekends we have been really getting in the wedding spirit with wedding showers. Mrs. Delong & Abby Vandewalle put together a wonderful shower for Taylor in Lafayette a few Sundays ago. We had beautiful weather, delicious food, and fabulous people at the shower. Everything was decorated so nicely, and it was fun to see family and friends. Taylor received some really nice gifts too.

Ryan & I wanted to have a shower for Taylor & Kyle in Indianapolis. We knew all the events were taking place in Lafayette, and thought it would be fun to do something here in Indy, so they and some of their friends, wouldn't have to travel anywhere. We decided to involve the guys and have a couples shower at our house, with a House Divided Theme (PU/IU). We had such a great time with family and friends, even the Marando's came in town, and John Reese was here as well. We had Yats for dinner, played a few shower games, had cocktails, and because of the crappy weather we set up beer pong in the garage. Everyone had a good time, and now we can't wait for the wedding reception to get together with everyone for another party.

Half Bath MakeOver

Last week Ryan and I decided that our half bathroom needed a serious makeover. It was so boring and just bringing down the first floor of our house. There were so many nail holes in the walls and outdated features from the previous owners. So we patched up the walls, gave the bathroom a new coat of paint, and updated everything we knew we would be able to do on our own.

Here are some before shots....
Boring brown walls

Gold Mirror, white towel rack, brown walls...nothing matched

Light fixture from the 80's (even though house was built in the 90's)

Gold cabinet hardware
And here is the finished project...

Bright (much brighter than we planned) Blue walls, new mirror, & towel rack

Ryan installed a new light fixture (He's 2 for 2)

New cabinet hardware

New towel rack and hand towel

New matching wall plates, and a few decorative accessories.

It is hard to see down there but Ryan changed the toilet paper rack to a matching silver one, and even picked out a few black and white photos to match the other accessories.
Most of our supplies and new fixtures we bought at Lowes. We got all of our painting supplies there (brushes, paint, spackle, tape, rollers, pan, ect.) the new mirror, wall plates, towel rack, toilet paper rack, cabinet hardware, and light fixture. I love shopping at Lowes because they have everything you need right there. I did have to special order the cabinet hardware, but they had everything else in-stock. We ended up getting everything at Lowes for $138. (Next time we will have all the paint supplies, so if we would have had that we would have come in at $29 less). I also had some coupons for Lowes that knocked off a few dollars. All the accessories we were able to pick up at Home Goods for a total of $30. My budget goal for our bathroom was $150, and we came in just over at $170. I marked this down as a success, because in all the quotes I got, just for painting, every company was over $200. Our friend Micah came over for dinner and also supervised our painting night. He was great at giving us tips, and helping Ryan out with a few things. All in all, it was a pretty simple project, and I'm glad we went for it, and that it is done : )

Mini Training

The Indianapolis Mini Marathon is just one month away!! Ryan and I decided to sign up last winter for the 13.2 mile race. Neither one of us have been training like we should be, but I think we will be okay to finish. Now that the weather is getting nicer, it has made running much more enjoyable (I get so bored on the treadmill). This past Saturday Ryan and I ran 8 miles on the Monon, and it was a perfect morning. I was surprised I talked Ryan into going with me, but he ran the whole thing like a trooper. I believe it was around mile 5 he quit talking to me though lol. Kyle also ran "with us" aka he finished over 20 minutes before us, and waited for us at the end with high-fives. We felt great after we were done, and headed straight to our new favorite spot, Jason's Deli.

Hopefully we will have just as nice weather this weekend. We are shooting for a 10 mile run Saturday morning.
The Mini-Marathon is the largest half-marathon in the U.S.
